Simon Holmes à Court, Chairman

Simon has qualifications in Cognitive and Computer Science and Applied Finance and Investment. He has a broad range of commercial experience, ranging from ‘dot com’ businesses in Silicon Valley to remote cattle stations in the Northern Territory.

Simon has previously been a director of Heytesbury Pty Ltd, one of Australia’s largest private companies, and is the Chairman of Melbourne based Observant Pty Ltd, which designs and manufactures infrastructure monitoring, control and automation solutions. Simon is also the founding Chairman of Hepburn Wind.

Andy Cavanagh-Downs, Executive Director

Andy joined Embark after working in finance for over 10 years in Zurich, London and Sydney. Most recently, Andy was a Managing Director at UBS Wealth Management, where he headed the product team for the Australian operations and led the re-design of the IT platform. He has extensive experience in capital raising, project design, project implementation and strategy.

Mary Dougherty, Director

Mary has a broad knowledge of business and industry having worked in various marketing, project management and consulting roles in Australia and overseas. She holds a commerce degree and brings considerable commercial experience to her role at Embark including business planning & strategy, communications & marketing, project delivery, operational management, stakeholder management and event planning. Mary also sits on the board of Melbourne Open House.

Taryn Lane, Communications & Community Liaison

Taryn has extensive local and international community development experience. She has worked for Australia's first community-owned wind farm Hepburn Wind since 2010, delivering industry best standards in community engagement. In addition she is a founding director of the Australian Wind Alliance and founding member of the steering committee for the Coalition for Community Energy (C4CE).  

Taryn has worked in community development for over a decade both internationally and locally and undertaken research for various education institutions. She holds a BA in International Studies an MA in Sustainability and Social Change and is a fellow of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership's, Future Sustainability Leaders course.

Nicholas Lilly, Associate Director

Nick is an experienced corporate finance professional who has spent over a decade within the renewable energy industry.  Prior to joining Embark, Nick was a manager within Pacific Hydro’s corporate finance team, where he spent nine years.  Nick brings a track record of successfully financing utility scale renewable energy projects in Australia, Chile, Brazil and the Philippines.  Nick’s experience encompasses capital raisings, financial analysis and modelling, contract negotiation and project management.
